Funeral of Pioneer Lady Held Monday. After an illness of several years that was superinduced by an injury received from a fall, Mrs. Louis Romanop passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Cliff Jones, in this city, at 9:45 o'clock Saturday evening. Deceased was born in Ohio, May 9, 1836, and came to Iowa in the 50's and was united in marriage to Ashbury Wood. To this union to children were born, one passing away at an early age, the other being Wm. Wood, now a resident of Iron Hill. The husband and father was killed in the Civil War. In 1870 she was married to Louis Romanop and to this union for children were born, one daughter, Kate, passing away in 1915 and one son, Fred, died in April 1920. Those surviving are Mrs. Cliff Jones and Mrs. Louis Said. Mr. Romanop died about five years ago. She was for many years a consistent member of the Adventist church, and remained true to her faith until death. The funeral was held from the Cliff Jones home on Monday thence to the Emeline church. Rev. D.F. Boomershine officiated. Interment was made in the Emeline cemetery. – 15 June 1920, Jackson Sentinel, Maquoketa, Iowa, pg. 1.
Obituary- Elizabeth Green was born in the state of Ohio, May 9th, 1836, she came to Iowa in the fifties. In 1855 she was United in marriage to Ab Wood to which union two children were born, one died in childhood, the other being Wm. Wood who resides near Iron Hill.
In 1863 her husband was killed in the Civil war.
In 1870 she was married to Louis Romanop, to this union four children were born. Mrs. Lewis Said, Maquoketa, Mrs. Cliff Jones, Maquoketa, Mrs. Catherine Edwards, deceased, Mr. Fred Romanop, deceased.
The resided in Brandon Twp. for many years until the death of Mr. Romanop, July 28, 1915. Since then Mrs. Romanop made her home with Mrs. Cliff Jones, of Maquoketa, until her death which occurred June 12, 1920 at the age of 84 years 1 month and 3 days.
Funeral services were held on Monday, June 14, prayer at the home of John Jones, a grandson, on South Eliza St. at 1 p.m. and sermon at the Emeline church at 2 p.m. and burial in Hickory Grove cemetery. The floral tributes were beautiful. Mesdames Frank Wilson and Hugo Staack sang consolingly. Rev. D.F. Boomershine officiated. – 18 June 1920, Jackson Sentinel, Maquoketa, Iowa, pg. 1.
