ZWINGLE-
Otter Creek Township has been called upon the second time in a short space of time to mourn the loss of another of its patriotic sons. A couple of weeks ago the announcement of the death of John R. Laughlin cast a gloom of sadness over the neighborhood and last week Clement Shanahan’s death notice came as a shock to his family and friends. He passed out of this life after a short illness of pneumonia following the Spanish influenza. A companion of his, Allen Wood, a young man well known in these parts, as he traveled for Watkins Co., passed out of this life a few minutes after Clem Shanahan of the same disease. Both young men died at the Great Lakes Naval Training Station. They enlisted about six months ago. We sympathize with the parents and friends of these young patriots, who so nobly have given their lives in defense of their county.
