MRS. FREDERICKA OSTERT
Andrew--Death claimed Mrs. Fredericka Ostert, beloved wife of John Ostert, on Wednesday afternoon, February 25th shortly after one o'clock at the country home of her daughter Mrs. L.A. Cornelius, her death terminating a long illness.

Mrs. Ostert was Miss Freederica Peters, and was born in Mecklenburg, Germany, May 17, 1849, when 7 years of age she imigrated to this Country with her parents locating in Tele de Morts Township, later on with her parents she moved to a farm northeast of Andrew.

October 16, 1865 she was married to John Ostert. Mr. and Mrs. Ostert were the parents of thirteen children, five having preceded the mother in death. Mr. and Mrs. Ostert commenced their married life on a farm in Fairfield Township. In 1906 they retired from farmlife and came to this city and built a pretty home in the northend of the city where they resided until a year ago, owing to ill health they went to reside with the daughter, Mrs. L.A. Cornelius where she received the best of care.

Mrs. Ostert was instructed in the Lutheran and confirmed by the late Rev. Rembald, she remained true to the faith she once confessed. Was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church, a member of the Ladies Aid Society. A devoted wife and mother, a devoted christian, who's kind and generous acts will ever be remembered by her numberless friends, who are deeply grieved at her passing.

For many years her health hass been impaired by bronchial trouble, for the past six weeks she has been confined to her bed. During that time her pastor, Rev. Bredow, has been at her bed side administering to her the Holy Sacrament of the Altar, and comforting her with the words of God.

Surviving to mourn the departure of this dear mother are four daughters, Mrs. Wm. Gabel, Mrs. L.A. Cornelius, and Mrs. L. Burket of Andrew; Mrs. Henry Peters, Hartley, Iowa, and four sons, Wm. Andrew, John, Maquoketa. and Henry of Pukwana, S.D. and Fred of Davenport, Iowa. Besides 35 Grand children and one great-grand child.

Funeral services were held from the late home Saturday at 1:30 P.M. to the Salem Lutheran Church in this city. Her pastor Rev. Bedow conducted the services and delivered a comforting sermon to the mourners. The Messers Wm., Charles, and Gotleib Cornelius, Wm. Chris and John Ehl acted as casket bearers. The floral tributes were beautiful and endless. Internment was made in the family lot in the Andrew Cemetery.
