Thelma L. "Pat" Gruenwald, 79, formerly of Maquoketa, and most recently a resident of the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 8, at Sartori Memorial Hospital, Cedar Falls.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, in the chapel at Cedar Falls Lutheran Home. A celebration of her life also will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, at First Lutheran Church, Maquoketa. A memorial visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, at Carson & Son Funeral and Cremation Services, Maquoketa. Burial will be at Buckhorn Cemetery, rural Maquoketa.
Pat is survived by children, Onalee (Dean) Steege of Cedar Falls and Charles "Chuck" (Eileen) Gruenwald of Spirit Lake, Idaho; a daughter-in-law, Diana Rollinger of Bernard; AFS daughter, Nuria (Hector) Murillo de Gonzalez of Alajuela, Costa Rica, Central America; sisters, Velma Gruenwald of Bartlett, Ill., and Betty (Gene) Hagy of Maquoketa; five grandchildren, Amanda (Dean) Koch of Baldwin, Samantha (Terry) Kress of Maquoketa, Laura Steege of Cedar Falls, Nathan (Jennifer) Steege of Waterloo and Nicholas Steege of Cedar Falls; two AFS grandsons, Sebastian (Cynthia) Gonzalez and Gabriel Gonzalez of Alajuela, Costa Rica; five great-grandchildren, Brendon, Theodore "Teddy" and Madilyn Koch of Baldwin, Samuel Kress of Maquoketa and Jalen Steege of Waterloo; a stepgreat-grandson, Nick Tran of Cedar Falls; and AFS great-granddaughter, Camila of Alajuela, Costa Rica.
