Maquoketa Excelsior, Feb. 26, 1887
Hazel Dunham at Igo City, northern California, was washing a dynamite cartridge in warm water, February 2, when it exploded and literally blew him to pieces. He was a former resident of Sterling, this county, fought for his country as a member of Co. A, Ninth Iowa, and was the brother of Mr. Wm. Aikman of Sabula.
