Emma Keel was born at Monmouth, Iowa, January 4, 1867 and grew to womanhood in the vicinity of Lost Nation. She was united in marriage to Edward Myatt, August 27, 1886. As a result of this union they were blessed with five children, Thomas, Ralph, Frederick, Lutha and Edward, all of whom were at home most of the time and to whom the mother was the rallying center. She lived in the home northeast of Lost Nation where the boys and girl grew up. She had been ailing over six years and her condition was watched. Medical and professional treatment were given, but to no avail. The last few months she failed rapidly and the end came during the first part of the week and she passed peacefully away at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1st, aged 45 years, 8 months and 27 days. She was a devoted wife and consecrated mother to her interesting, growing family. She was large hearted, a genial friend, sister and neighbor. She leaves to mourn her departure besides her sorrowing family, three sisters and two brothers, also a large circle of friends. Funeral services were held at the house at one p.m. on Thursday, October 3rd at the church in Lost Nation at 2 p.m. with burial in Lost Nation cemetery, Rev. D. F. Boomershine officiating.
