George Delbert Anderson
(March 28, 1931 - March 28, 2005)

George "Skip" Delbert Anderson, 74, Welton, Iowa, died Monday afternoon, March 28, 2005 at Jackson County Public Hospital, Maquoketa, Iowa.

Mr. Anderson was born March 28, 1931, in Grand Mound, Iowa, the son of Howard and Viola (Smith) Anderson. He had resided all his life in Clinton County. Skip was a Marine Veteran of the Korean War serving from 1951 until 1954, and rose to the rank of sergeant in 1952.

He married Shirley Witt October 16, 1955 in Charlotte, Iowa. Skip retired in April of 1992 after 26 years of eployment at Alcoa. He had also worked at Clinton Engines in Maquoketa for 13 years and was former proprietor of the Draft House in Welton for 10 years.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley; a daughter, Cindy (Tom) Murphy, Long Grove, Iowa; three sons, Kevin (Amy) Anderson, Summerfield, Florida; Keith (Bryci) Anderson, DeWitt, Iowa; Tracy (Lisa) Anderson, DeWitt; a brother, Eugene Anderson, Marshalltown, Iowa; several nieces and nephews; nine grandchildren, Andrea, Patrick (Christina), Rachel, Matthew and Timothy Murphy; Adam and Kelci Anderson; Christina and Amanda Anderson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Doris Wise, a sister-in-law, Betty Anderson and a grandson, Travis George Anderson.

Family and friends may visit at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday, March 31, 2005. Funeral service 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2005 at the Funeral Home. The Rev. Sarah E. Kretzmann officiating. Interment at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.

Eugene McManus American Legion Post #238 of DeWitt will conduct military rites at the Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Patrick Murphy, Rodney Walker, Matthew Murphy, Darrell Witt, Jeff Burmeister and Robert Dunn. Honorary pallbearers will be Timothy Murphy and Adam Anderson.
