Mrs. E. S. Dyas
Goes to Reward

End Came Monday Afternoon
After Ling Illness. Last Rites
Held Wednesday.

Mrs. E. S. Dyas was released from a long period of suffering when the end came at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11, at Bellevue Memorial hospital, where she had been taken a few days previously. She had reached the grand old age of 89 years, 5 months and 27 days when the end came but for the past year and a half had been ill most of the time and on several occasions her life was despaired of.

Catherine Reed first saw the light of day on April 4, 1859, the daughter of Wm. H. and Katherine Lamborn Reed on the present Alex Reed farm south of Bellevue. She grew to young womanhood in the community and taught the Reed school for some time. On Sept. 30, 1884, she became the bride of E. S. Dyas and the new home was established on the Dyas homestead just south of town and here she spent the remainder of her long and useful life. She was the mother of five sons and two daughters. Her husband and two daughters, Mrs. J. J. Morrisseny (Amelia) and Mrs. Merle Simms (Margorie) preceded her in death. Surviving are five sons, Roy W., of Andrew, Edward S. of Ames, Harold R. of Lamotte, Robert H. and Wilbur J., both of Bellevue; nine grandchildren and three great grandsons. She is also survived by one brother, Alex Reed.

Mrs. Dyas was a wife and mother whose first consideration was the welfare of her family. She was always ready to help any in need, and was at all times the center of the family life.

The body was removed to the Dye Funeral home and services were held from there Wednesday afternoon to the Presbyterian church of which she was a member, conducted by her pastor, the Rev. Laurence Nelson who preached a very fine sermon. Ben Janssen sang several numbers. Burial was made on the family lot in the Presbyterian cemetery and the pall-bearers were four grandsons, Thos., Robert, John and Richard Dyas and two nephews, Carlton and Lester Reed.

The following from out of town attended the last rites:

Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Dyas, Robert W. and Richard H. Dyas, Ames; Mr. and Mrs. Art Kennedy, Elliott, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. John Hendricks, Cuba City, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Dan Ryan and daughter Susan, Madison, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Suer and John Harms, Preston; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Guise, Delmar; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hoyt, Andrew; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lamborn, Preston; Mr. and Mrs. Jos. A.
