Services Held Monday for Bert Woods

Funeral services for Bert Woods, 70, who died at 11 a.m. Friday of a short illness, were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the First Methodist church. The Rev. H. D. Green officiated. Burial was made in Mt. Hope cemetery.

Robert Benton Woods, son of Robert and Belinda Wade Woods, was born April 21, 1874, on the home farm four miles north of Maquoketa, where he grew to manhood.

He attended Epworth seminary, Epworth, Iowa, after attending the local schools.

On Aug. 24, 1898, he was married to Miss Ida V. York, daughter of Andrew J. and Catherine York of Maquoketa, and the couple established their home on their farm north of town. They continued to live there for 45 years, moving to Maquoketa where for the past year and one-half they have greatly enjoyed this new home on South Main Street.

Mr. Woods was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Fred, who died in childhood, and Clint, who passed away just three weeks ago to the day and hour of Bert’s death.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his widow; one brother, Frank of Ames; one sister, Mrs. Mabel Dostal of Maquoketa; five nieces, two nephews, and countless friends.
