Jackson Sentinel, Maquoketa, Iowa, April 7, 1892.

DIED-

TOWNER-At his home on Olive street, Friday morning, at the advanced age of eighty-four years, Ira T. Towner. He was born in Crown Point, Essex county, New York. In 1854 he came to Maquoketa, where he has resided since as one of our most respected citizens. He was sexton of Mt. Hope cemetery for about 35 years and in that time laying to rest over 1,185 people. He leaves an aged wife and two daughters, Mrs. Henry Smith and Mrs. J. H. Waugh, to mourn his demise. He was laid to rest in Mt. Hope cemetery Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Rev. T. S. Oadams conducting the services.
