Jackson Sentinel, July 4, 1878.

DIED-

HASKELL-
At his home, 3 miles northeast of the city, on Wednesday 28th, 1878, after a long severe illness, HORATIO G. HASKELL, aged nearly sixty-six years.

Mr. Haskell was born in Vermont, but at an early age, with his parents, removed to Chautauqua County, New York, where he resided some years. In 1841 he came to Iowa, since which time he had been a citizen of this county. Mr. Haskell was a man of more than ordinary intelligence and always occupied a prominent position politically, educationally and socially. He was very liberal in his support of the church. Always at the head of school matters and gave more toward building and supporting his district school than any of his neighbors. A man of positive nature, of sterling integrity, and high moral sentiments, his influence was large and always for right. By perseverance, industry and economy he had amassed a fine property, and his poor neighbors always knew that they could get aid and counsel from him when in trouble. A leading man, a respected citizen, a beloved friend, he will be missed by a whole community. A wife and three children comprise the family now so sorely afflicted. A large concourse of people followed the remains to the grave and paid a final tribute to the memory of one they valued so highly in life.-Record.
