Alice Langridge-Broxam was born at Geneseo, Illinois, November 16, 1877, and with her parents came to Maquoketa, when a girl of about seven years, since which time she has made her home almost continually in this city. She attended our public schools and on September 8, 1904 was united in marriage to A. L. Broxam of this city. On February 21 1909 she united with the Congregational church and the true Christian teachings of her church were beautifully exemplified in her daily walks through life. Mrs. Broxam was an honored member of the P. E. O., the Pythian Sisters and the Ladies Legislative League, and these circles too will deeply feel her passing. For several months she had been in failing health, but with suffering came n truce of discouragement or gloom and even to the end she planned to live on and continue to cheer the lives of others, but her work was done and she fell asleep about 3 o’clock Tuesday afternoon. The most expert in the medical profession expended their skills to save her life while tender care was lavished that no comfort should be overlooked. Under the almost constant care of her faithful sister, Mrs. Edith Behrens, her sufferings were greatly lightened and her spirits buoyed surely typical of true sisterly devotion.

Besides her grief-stricken husband she leaves three sisters, Mrs. Edith Behrens of Preston; Mrs. Laura Powell of Waterloo and Mrs. Mande Mowers of DeWitt; also one brother, Earnest Langridge of Chicago. The funeral will be held from the late home on South Matteson Avenue this Friday morning at 10:30 o’clock, Rev. J. G. Morgan officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
