Prosperous Farmer Dies.
Asa Struble Passes Away at Midnight Sunday.
Funeral Services Held Yesterday From the Late Country Home.

Asa Struble, a prosperous farmer and pioneer resident of this county passed away Sunday night, May 19, following a three years’ illness.

He was born on June 2, 1847, in Trumbull county, Ohio. He came with his parents to Jackson county in the year 1855 and they settled on a farm near Fulton, Iowa.

On Sept. 24, 1864, he enlisted in defense of his country as a member of Co. E. Second Iowa cavalry and served most faithfully until the close of the war, being honorably discharged on June 17, 1865.

He was united in marriage to Miss Nancy Williams on December 4, 1879, and they spent their entire married life on the farm where they prospered and accumulated many acres of land.

Mr. Struble was a respected and honored citizen and numbered his friends by his acquaintances. His dealings with his fellow men were always honest and upright and he will be sadly missed by his family, neighbors and friends.

Surviving are his wife, two sons, Garfield and Floyd, and one daughter, Cora E., also two grandsons, Donald and Max Current. One sister, Mrs. Lucy McCluskey of Sioux City, also survives.

The funeral services were held from the home yesterday afternoon at two o’clock, Rev. J. J. Kidder read the service. Interment was made in the Mausoleum in Mt. Hope cemetery.
