Funeral of Henry H. Stender Held Sunday Afternoon

The funeral of the late Henry Herman Stender, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Stender, was held at the Buchner chapel Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock. Deceased was born in Germany March 7, 1887, but had spent nearly all his life in this community. He left here last June with one of the military contingents but was later discharged on account of ill health. He then went to Grand Falls, Minn., to work and there contracted influenza which caused his death Wednesday, the remains being brought here Saturday. He leaves his mother and sister Minnie at home; two other sisters, Mrs. Bertha Nissen of Lost nation and Mrs. Anna Stender of Oxford; and two brothers, Carl and William, both with the colors in France. Interment was made in Mt. Hope cemetery.
