Dula C. Hammond, 88, of Maquoketa, died August 14, 2007, at the Jackson County Regional Health Center, Maquoketa.

Dula Catherine Tebbe was born on August 20, 1918 in Jackson County, Iowa, to Nicholas and Mary Schmidt Tebbe. She married Harold Michel on October 17, 1939. He died on October 8, 1940, she married Lloyd Hammond. He died on March 23, 1990.

She was a homemaker and had worked as a machine operator at Clinton Engine in Maquoketa for 15 years. She also did house cleaning for many years in the Jackson County area.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and its church circle. She loved her flowers, garden and yard. She also enjoyed fishing, camping and making quilts.

Survivors include sisters, Madonna & Edward Mueller, Bendina & Gordon Petesch and Velma & Richard Lampe, all of Bellevue, one brother, Lloyd Tebbe of Springbrook, a sister-in-law, Laura Tebbe, of Bellevue, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sisters, Erma and Rita and one brother, Vincent.

Lahey Funeral & Cremation Service in Maquoketa was in charge of arrangement.
