Henry Thill was born in Brachtenback, Canton Wiltz-Luxemberg Germany on August 24, 1842. He married Eliza Schocker; lived at Preston, Iowa and ran the lumber business there. He was the father of three daughters, Anna, Eliza and Mary and one son, John.
He died at Mercy hospital in Dubuque, Iowa on October 14, 1900 with burial in Dubuque.
