McCRACKEN. - Sarah Elizabeth McCracken, wife of Ferdinand E. Wilcox, was born Oct. 22, 1854, near Springbrook, Jackson county, Iowa, and departed this life at Nashville, April 1st, 1905, at 12:30 a.m., after some weeks of severe suffering. She died of a complication of diseases. In 1866 she moved with her parents to this neighborhood and here with the exception of a few years spent in Clinton county, she has since resided.
On Dec. 25, 1873, she was united in marriage to Ferdinand S. Wilcox. To this happy union were born three children, John A., residing near Iron Hills; Thomas E. at home and Frank A. Wilcox, who preceded his mother to the other world some six years since. About 23 years ago Mrs. Wilcox united with the Baptist church at Nashville, remaining a consistent Christian to the end. Two brothers and two sisters survive her of whom Thos. McCracken of Nashville and Mrs. Millard Downer of Massillon, Cedar county, were present at the funeral. For many months Mrs. Wilcox has been ailing, sometimes suffering intensely, but last Saturday morning her sufferings were ended.
Funeral services were held at Buckhorn church, on Monday, April 3rd, at 10:30 a.m., after which the remains were laid to rest in Buckhorn cemetery, Rev. G. C. Chandler officiated. A large concourse of people attended the funeral.
