Ex-LaMotte Businessman Dead at 84

LaMotte, Jan. 5—John C. Nemmers, 84, for half a century prior to his retirement a meat market owner-operator here, died Friday, Dec. 31, in Oelwein, Ia.; he had been ill for about a year.

Funeral services for Mr. Nemmers were held Monday at 10 a.m. in Holy Rosary Catholic church. The pastor, the Rev. F. H. Lohberg, offered the mass of requiem and officiated at graveside services in the church cemetery.

Mr. Nemmers was born at LaMotte, a son of the late Nicholas and Elizabeth Manders Nemmers. He resided here most of his life. His wife, the former Etta Markus, a sister and two brothers preceded him in death.

Surviving are two daughters, Miss Josephine Nemmers of Oelwein and Mrs. John (Helen) Probst of Benton, Wisc.; one son, Dr. C. J. Nemmers of Anamosa, Ia.; five grandchildren; three sisters.
