John Foust, one of the old pioneers of Washington township, was called out of this life Wednesday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Anna Chesney, in Dubuque where the aged gentlemen was visiting. Mr. Foust was born 84 years ago in Germany. He came to this country when a young man, and by industry acquired a great estate. He has been in poor health for the past few years. His wife preceded him in death several years ago. He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Chesney of Dubuque and two sons Rudolph and Thomas both residents of Buncombe neighborhood and four grandchildren.

His funeral was held Saturday afternoon from his late home at Buncombe, to the Reformed church here. Services were conducted by Rev. Newgard; interment was made in the Harmony cemetery.

Mr. Foust is also survived by five brothers, Albert, Jonathan, Adolph, Edward and Edgar and three sisters, Mrs. Schwagler, Mrs. Meyers and Mrs. Frank Wiland of Dubuque. His brother Edgar having gone to Florida for the winter was unable to be present.
