April 19, 1921Body of World War Hero Arrives From France
The body of Private Nicholas Medinger who died in France in the fall of 1918, following a gas attack, is expected to arrive in Bellevue either Thursday or Friday.
A telegram was received stating that the body had arrived at the pier at Hoboken, N. J., and had left Jersey City, N. J., at 7:08 on Wednesday morning for Bellevue. Immediately upon its arrival the body will be taken to American legion headquarters under guard of the local post and be escorted by the Legion boys to Springbrook for final interment.
Private Medinger will be accorded a military funeral and it is expected that there will be a large attendance.
Private Medinger was a member of Co. C., 118th Infantry. Two other Jackson county boys, Privates Michels and Feller, lost their lives in the same manner and at the same time that Private Medinger did.
