DIED

LYMAN- In Maquoketa, the 11th inst., Helen C. youngest daughter of S. D. Lyman, Esq., aged 23 years and 11 days.
It is seldom that we are called upon to record the death of one so widely beloved. Possessed naturally of a disposition that led her to shrink from notoriety, quietly and noiselessly pursued the even tenor of her way, scattering blessings on every hand. Occupying the position of teacher in one of our public schools for a time, she drew around her the affection of her pupils to that degree that they never ceased to love and esteem her to the last.
The disease of which she died was gradual and almost imperceptible in its progress, and for a long time friends hoped she had sufficient strength to throw it off. All that could be done by constant watching and attention on the part of friends to prolong life was done.
When informed by friends that she would not long continue with them, she replied with a smile, "I amready." As she approached the "Dark River" the light from the other side illumined her pathway, and in the full brightness of that unobscured light, she sweetly passed away.
"Let me die the death of the righteous, and may my last end be like his."
