A Victim of the Rum Fiend
The following is the Coroner's inquest upon the body of Henry B. Hammond:

State of Iowa

Jackson County

At an inquest holden at the house of John Ast in Maquoketa, on the 9th day of May, 1868, before J. W. Eckles, coroner of the said court, upon the body of H. B. Hammond there lying dead, by the jurors whose names are hereto subscribed; the said jurors upon their oath say:-That the said H. B. Hammond came to his death in Maquoketa, on the 8th day of May, from congestion, caused by exposure and intoxication.
