DIED – Lena Bernice CURRENT, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fortis Current, was born Dec. 4, 1902, and died of tubercular meningitis, Oct. 22, 1904. Brief funeral services were held at the home by Rev. G. C. Chandler, Monday at 2 o’clock. Interment in the Union church cemetery.

DIED – The three-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman WALLENSDORF, died Saturday at the home of his parents in Farmer’s Creek township. The funeral was held Monday at 10 a.m., in the Maple Grove school house followed by interment in Mt. Hope cemetery. Rev. J. F. Black officiated.

DIED – Caroline DRUMM was born April 1st, 1848, in Theisbergstegen, Germany, and came to America in June, 1865. She was married to Charles Romer at Lyons, Iowa, Dec. 16, 1866. They came to Maquoketa the same year and settled on a farm 3 miles east of town. About two years ago they moved to town, locating on East Platt street, where she passed away Thursday evening last at 9 p.m. She was the parent of eleven children, one dying in infancy, 19 of whom, except Edward, were present at the obsequies. Those surviving are, Ida, Adolph, Elizabeth, Edward, Charlie, Fred, John, Gene, Carrie and Nora. Besides the husband and ten children who morn her sudden demise, there are18 grand-children and numerous other relatives and close friends. Mrs. Romer was reared in the Lutheran faith in old country and she adhered faithfully to that religion until the end. Funeral services were held the home Sunday at 2 p.m., Rev. J. F. Black officiating, and an immense throng of friends were present to pay their last respects to the dear departed. The floral offerings were very profuse and the grave in Mt. Hope cemetery was strewn with the choicest of flowers. A good woman has been called home.
