DIED

WILBUR- At his home in this city, 1 A.M., Thursday, June 25th, 1891, of apoplexy, Thomas Wilbur, aged 73 years, 8 months, 19 days.

Deceased was born in Steuben county, New York, and was married to Miss Anna Belden, his estimable wife, at Hornellsville, N. Y., and she survives him.

After a six month's residence in Kentucky, during which time deceased taught school, they came to Maquoketa. For nearly 35 years he mingled with our people, made many friends and acquaintances, held positions of trust and followed the practice of law. He was a man of kindly and sympathizing disposition and very pleasant mannered to all.

The funeral occurred from his late home Friday afternoon, and in accordance with his frequently expressed desire, the Masonic ceremony was used. Rev. Oadams reading the prayer at the house, Dr. Davis, W.M., taking charge and G. A. Isbell assisting at the grave. The Masonic Order and members of the County Bar turned out largely, and with many friends of the deceased and sorrowing family, who were present, it made an unusually large funeral and testified to the high regard entertained for Thomas Wilbur. In his demise two daughters, a son and bereaved wife are left to mourn, and the sympathies of many neighbors and friends are with them.
