John Strodthoff Dies In Nebraska; Funeral, Burial Here

Funeral services for John Strodthoff, 79, of Maquoketa, who died Friday morning in Fremont, Nebr., were held at two o’clock Tuesday afternoon in First Lutheran church. The Rev. Harold C. Kumpf, pastor, officiated. Burial was made in the Andrew cemetery. The Haylock O’Hara funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Strodthoff, a resident of the Andrew-Bridgeport vicinity for more than 60 years, died in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Bernhardine Jetter, following a lingering illness. He was born July 24, 1874, in Annen, Province at Hanover, Germany, a son of Hermann and Elsie Strodthoff. He came to the United States on Oct. 13, 1889. He was a farmer.

On April 21, 1897, he was married in Bridgeport to Tena Lubben, who preceded him in death. Mr. Strodthoff was a member of the Jackson I. O. O. F. lodge for many years and was active in Lutheran church activities.

In addition to his daughter, he is survived by one brother, Otto, of Panora, Ia., two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
