KILLED AT R. R. CROSSING.
S. C. Zitterell, Formerly of this City, Loses Life Under Car Wheels.
S. C. Zitterell, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Zitterell of this City, was instantly killed at Webster City, Monday at midnight, just west of the Des Moines street grade crossing by a Northwestern passenger train, while on his way home, walking up the tracks. For some time that City has been attempting to force the railroads to place flagmen at that crossing. Mr. Zitterell's body was terribly mangled and one part was found 200 feet from another. Mr. Zitterell operated the Barnes foundry and machine shops in our City for several years, after removing his family to Webster City, where he found employment with his brother, W. J. Zitterell, the contractor. Deceased was a man of 44 years and was born and raised in Maquoketa, where he was widely known. Besides aged parents, brother and sisters he leaves to mourn, a wife and three daighters, Wilma, Ethel and Katherine. Interment was made at Webster City where the funeral took place.
