Susan M. Harrington was born in Clinton, Macomb County, Mich, Jan. 23, 1867, and died at Elwood, Clinton County, Iowa, Oct. 12, 1906, being 60 years, 8 months and 19 days of age. When but two years of age she removed with her parents to New York state, where she grew to womanhood, and where in 1858, she experienced religion and joined the M. E. church, of which she ever after remained a consistent and faithful member. She was married to Elias J. Burdick, Nov. 24, 1861, and moved with him to Wisconsin, and after his death at Racine, April 24, 1864, returned to her former home in New York. The year following, 1865, she came with her elder brother, M. J. Harrington, to Iowa, where she was married to Wm. R. Leapley at Welton, Clinton County, October of the same year, living in this section thereafter until the time of her death. There remains one brother, M. J. Harrington, and one sister, Mrs. L. S. Lovelee, of this city; also two sisters, Mrs. M. E. Coleman of Preston, Ia., and Mrs. M. A. Joslyn of Long Island. The funeral was held at the M. E. church Elwood, Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock in charge of Rev. Kidder, assisted by Rev. Ellis of Delmar.
