The Rev. Ignatius Rottler, who died in Los Angeles, California, on Monday December 8, 1902, was laid to rest in the cemetery at St. Donatus beside the grave of his mother and also that of the Rev. Father Flammang, who founded the parish in 1851. The funeral was one of the largest attended ever held in that community and the services were most solemn and impressive. There were many present from his former parishes and from this city to pay their last tribute to the departed priest. Some thirty priests were present from other parishes.
