Jackson Sentinel, June 18, 1945:
Funeral service was held at Carson-Balster Funeral Home on Tuesday for Mrs. Dora Christina Schumann, 93, who died Saturday morning following an illness of three weeks. The Rev. H.D.Green officiated and burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
The deceased was born in Germany on August 5, 1852, and was married November 30, 1877, to Henry Schumann, Sr. She is survived by the following children: John, Anna Wilson, Edward, Alfred and Henry, all of Maquoketa; Ida Beagle residing in North Dakota. One son, Carl, preceded her in death. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
A grandson, Max Wilson, is with the ARMU Air corps in Italy, and a great-grandson, Willard Jansen, is serving with the Marines in the South Pacific.
