MAQUOKETA — Dorothy M. Gilmore, 84, of Maquoketa, died Friday at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, in Davenport.

Burial will be in the Monmouth Cemetery.

She was born March 7, 1923, in Toronto, Iowa, to John and Elsie Willey Kleeman. She married Gerald Gilmore on Sept. 26, 1940, in Iowa.

She was a 1940 graduate of Monmouth High School.

She worked with J.C. Penney’s, Hamilton’s and the Fishing Tackle Co., Maquoketa, as a clerk and bookkeeper. She also worked with the U.S. Postal Service in Monmouth.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Jackson County Regional Health Center Ladies Auxiliary, both in Maquoketa.

Survivors include her husband; one son, Dr. G. Thomas (Charlene) Gilmore of Medford, Ore.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Fern (John) Williams of DeWitt; one brother, Allen Kleeman of Monticello, Wis.; one sister-in-law, Ramona Kleeman of Maquoketa; and several nieces and nephews.

A Dorothy M. Gilmore Memorial Fund has been established.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.
