Maquoketa Excelsior, April 1, 1930:
Mother Of Nine Dies Today As Result Of Burns.
Mrs. Roy Ruggeberg of Welton, mother of ten children, nine of whom are living, died early this morning in a Clinton hospital from severe burns about her face and body received in a fatal accident at her home Monday morning.
The farm woman, whose home is located two miles north of Welton, in attempting to build a stove fire, threw a quantity of kerosene on the flames which caught to her clothing and immediately set them afire. She was taken at once to the hospital where physicians held little hopes of saving her life.
Her husband is the brother of Alfred Ruggeberg of this city.
Funeral services will be held at two p.m. Thursday at the Ruggeberg home with Rev. A.M. Sinden officiating. Burial will be made in Oakdale cemetery.
