Jackson Sentinel, February 27, 1934:
Peter J. Nennig, of LaMotte, Passes Away Thursday at Dubuque.
LaMotte- Peter John Nennig passed away in Dubuque at midnight Thursday after a few days illness. Mr. Nennig has made his home with his nephew Charles Nennig for several winters and during the summer months since his retirement he would make his home with the Peter D. Manders family.
He was born on the Buchloz farm near Syren, a village in Luxemburg, Europe, on January 1, 1845, and came to America in 1873. He has made his home in this locality since, with the exception of short periods in South Dakota, Florida and Canada in the interests of his land. He made two visits to his native home, the last time in 1892. Mr. Nenning never married, was always a faitful member of the Catholic church.
During his younger years Mr. Nennig gathered poultry throughout the country and was a familiar figure on the markets in Dubuque on Saturday. His only survivor is his nephew, Charles Nennig of Dubuque.
Funeral services were held Monday at 9:00 a.m. from the Hoffman mortuary in Dubuque to St. Mary's Church and burial was made at Mt. Calvary.
