GENE JENSEN

Gene Jensen, 71, former Maquoketa councilman, died at 4:30 a.m. today in his home in Maquoketa.

Friends may call at the Haylock-O'Hara funeral home beginning Saturday noon. Funeral services will be held there at 2 p.m. Monday, with the Rev. Donald Lehman of the E. and R. church officiating. Burial will be in Buckhorn cemetery.

Mr. Jensen was born Dec. 7, 1882, near Welton and was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Jensen. He was married Dec. 23, 1924, to Rose Evers, who survives.

A retired electrician, Mr. Jensen served on the city council and was active in Masonic and Odd Fellow circles and the American Legion.

In addition to his widow, he is survived by a sister, Mrs. Anna Bairy, in California.
