ERNEST GIBSON, 58, FORMER COUNCILMAN, DIES AT HOME HERE
Funeral service was held Monday at 2 p.m. at Carson funeral home for Ernest Gibson, 58, former Maquoketa city councilman, who died at his home here at 3 a.m. Friday following a heart attack. The Rev. Milton Nothdurft officiated and burial was made in Mt. Hope cemetery.
A son of Mr. and Mrs. John Gibson, the deceased was born Dec. 24, 1893 in Maquoketa where he had spent his entire life. He is survived by the widow, the former Leila Bowling, to whom he was married in Maquoketa on April 5, 1916; two brothers, Howard and Edward Gibson of Maquoketa; four sister, Mrs. Paul Round of Portland, Ore., Mrs. Clarkson of Myrtle Creek, Ore., Mrs. Myrtle Claussen of Goose Lake and Mrs. Amus Petersen of Maquoketa. One sister preceded him in death.
Mr. Gibson, operator of a portable mill, was a member of the Izaak Walton league.
