KEEPS PROMISE TO WIFE TO VERY END
William Moore, 78, kept a promise to never leave his house here until the very end. He died Saturday night.
On the deathbed of his wife last summer, she made him promise not to leave the house because of their dog, Tony, 15 years old, blind and toothless.
When he became ill Christmas day, he refused to leave home for Jackson County Public hospital, despite the pleas of his daughter, Margaret, and the attending physician.
Tony was given a merciful death Sunday to complete the pact.

DEATH DATE: Dec. 24, 1954
SOURCE: Private collection of newspaper clippings
NOTE: The article regarding the dog had at least two errors, Mr. Moore was already deceased by Christmas day and he did not have a daughter.
