MRS. H. E. SAFFORD DIES OF BURNS

Mrs. H. E. (Barbara) Safford, 81, who was critically burned when a gas stove in her home on North Matteson avenue exploded Aug. 15, died Monday morning in University hospitals at Iowa City. She had been a patient there for the past four months.

Funeral services for Mrs. Safford, the former Barbara Bach, were held at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday in Sacred Heart Catholic church here. The Rev. E. W. Loosbrock officiated. Interment was made in Mt. Hope cemetery. Carson's funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Safford was born may 17, 1870, at Andrew, the daughter of the late Peter and Anna Thomas Bach. Her husband, John, preceded her in death, as did one brother and two sisters.
