FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FRIDAY FOR E.F. WEEMAN

Funeral services for E. F. Weeman, who passed away July 18, at Ft. Scott, Kan., were held Friday at 3:00 p.m., at Buchner chapel, Rev. H. H. Dill officiating. Burial was made in Mt. Hope cemetery, the committal service being in charge of the American Legion.

Ebenezer Franklin Weeman was born in Monroe City, Mich. September 15, 1836, and departed this life July 18, 1933 at Ft. Scott, Kan., where he had made his home since 1920. He had reached the age of 96 years, ten months and three days.

He was twice married. His first wife was Miss Anna Trump, who passed away in 1920 at Maquoketa. They were the parents of seven children, all of whom have passed away, with the exception of one son, George B. Weeman of Chicago.

Mr. Weeman came to Maquoketa about 55 years ago, having lived at DeWitt, Andrew and Fulton after returning from the war. He was a member of the A.W. Dripps Post of the Grand Army of the Republic. He enlisted in 1861 with the U. S. Lancers at DeWitt, Iowa, and upon the disbandment of this company, went to Peoria, Ill., and joined Company K of the 11th Illinois Cavalry under Co. Robert G. Ingersoll, and served until the end of the war.

Besides the son, he is survived by 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and his widow, Mrs. Belle Weeman of Fort Scott, Kan.
