Eunice Crowl, relict of Levi Decker, was born near Buffalo, N.Y., on Aug. 4, 1812, and died at Delmar, Iowa, June 17, 1905, of cancer, aged 92 years, 10 months, 13 days. She was married to Levi Decker Feb. 5, 1829, at Genese County, New York. Three daughters and one son blessed this union, all of whom except Lydia, preceded their mother in death. Her husband, Levi Decker, passed away some years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Decker, with their young family, moved west and settled at Spring Harbor, Michigan, in 1836, but not satisfied with their location they journeyed to Iowa and took up a claim about two miles northwest of Delmar. Here for many years they toiled together. Finally in their old age they left the farm and moved to Delmar. On Feb. 4, 1879, they celebrated the 50th anniversary of their marriage. On this occasion there were over 130 persons present. On the organization of the Baptist Church at Maquoketa by Rev. E.C. Brown in 1848 they became constituent members. Funeral services were held on Monday, June 19, 1905, at 2 p.m. at the M.E.Church, Delmar. Her pastor, Rev. G.C.Chandler, of Maquoketa, officiated, assisted by Revs Barton and Weir of Delmar. The remains were brought to Maquoketa and interred at Mt. Hope. Mrs. Farmer and Mrs. Nelson Koon, grandchildren of the deceased, together with other relatives and friends attended the funeral services. (Maquoketa Record, June 21, 1905.)
