Mrs. Viola Nims Dies Saturday.
Mrs. Viola Nims, 65, died suddenly of a heart attack in her home in Maquoketa, Saturday evening, Jan. 22(1949).
Funeral services were held in the Carson-Balster funeral home at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 25. The Rev. H.D.Green officiated. Burial was made in the Mt. Hope cemetery.
Rebekah lodge conducted ritual at the services and the Pythian sisters attended the funeral in a body. Nephews were pallbearers.
The former Viola Patterson was born near Bridgeport, the daughter of Charles and Lorinda Patterson, on June 25, 1883. She married Harry Rogers April 29, 1904. On April 19, 1918, she married Clde Nims in Davenport. He died last year.
Survivors include two sons, Kermit and Kenneth Rogers; one sister, Mrs. Nellie Shattuck; one brother, Arch Patterson, all of Maquoketa. Four brothers preceded her in death. One grandson also survives.(Maquoketa Community Press, January 27, 1949)
