EHL, HINMAN, STEPHENSON, SINKY

Harold W. Ehl, age 89, of Maquoketa, Iowa, and formerly of Sabula, Iowa, died on Saturday evening, April 1, 2006, at the Crestridge Nursing Home in Maquoketa, Iowa.
A celebration of his life will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, April 5, 2006, from the Salem Lutheran Church in Andrew, Iowa, with Pastor Gaylor Nelson officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 P.M. on Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at the Carson & Son Funeral and Cremation Services in Maquoketa, Iowa. Burial will be in the Andrew, Iowa Cemetery, where full military rites will be accorded by the Maquoketa American Legion Post #75, Maquoketa VFW Post #3633 O'Connor-Regenwether and the Andrew AMVETS Post # 62.
Harold W. Ehl was born on May 7, 1916, in Andrew, Iowa, to Chris Ehl and Lydia(Hinman) Ehl. He was an Andrew Community High School graduate, and a World War II veteran of the U.S.Army Air Corps, earning an honorable discharge. He married Ardis Stephenson on November 29, 1947 in Marion, Iowa. She preceded him in death on April 26, 1969. He then married Josephine Sinky in Sabula, Iowa. She preceded him in death in 2001.
Harold first worked in Clinton, installing and converting sheet metal furnaces for several years. He then became a self-employed businessman owning and operating "Ehl's Marine Service" in Sabula from 1955 to 1977. He moved to Maquoketa in 2002.
Harold was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Andrew, Iowa. He also was a member of the Clinton Masonic Lodge and the Clinton Consistory, Sabula Masonic Lodge, and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He loved to work and read.
Harold is survived by: a son Steve(Kathy)Ehl of Houston, Texas; a step-son-Dan Sinky of Camanche, IA; a brother-Al(Doris)Ehl of Maquoketa,IA; sisters-Alice Reitz of Bellevue,IA & Helena, Ehl of Maquoketa,Ia; & 2 step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wives. Memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
