WILLIAM WEETS DIES AT HOME HERE MONDAY

William WEETS, 84, died Monday at his home in Maquoketa following an illness of several days. Service was held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday at First Lutheran church. The Rev. Harold C. Kumpf officiated. Burial was in Mt. Hope cemetery with commital service in charge of Odd Fellows lodge.
The deceased was born Oct 7, 1863, in Luetesburg, E. Friesland, Hanover, Germany, a son of Use and Margaret EPPERS WEETS. He came to America when 21 years of age and followed the occupation of farming for 35 years in this vicinity and then retired and moved his family to Maquoketa. He was married March 21, 1893, to Mary A. BECK, who preceded him in death Oct. 7, 1911.
He was a member of the Lutheran church, and of the Odd Fellows lodge for 47 years. He was also a member of Rebekah and Canton lodges.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Laura COFFIN, OF Monmouth, Mrs. Matilda MATHEWS, of Morrison, Ill; Mrs. Gertrude MUDD of Maquoketa; two sons, Dewey of Monmouth, and John of Davenport; 13 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one brother Uvo WEETS, of Maquoketa. One son, William, jr., died in 1945.
