MAQUOKETA — Robert R. “Bob” Stratton, 78, of Maquoketa, died Thursday at Mercy Hospital, Dubuque.

Graveside services and burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. John’s Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

He was born Aug. 28, 1928, in Oxford to Clarence and Ella Walters Stratton. He married Rosellia Sharp on Feb. 17, 1968, in Cedar Rapids.

He was a 1949 graduate of the Iowa Braille and Sight Saving School, Vinton.

He worked with Clinton Engines, Maquoketa, for 26 years as a spring valve operator. He also owned and operated his own bicycle repair shop for many years.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Maquoketa, and the American Radio Relay League. He was a member of the DAC Board. He was a Cub Scout leader. He and his wife also owned and operated a cottage at Leisure Lake and were members of the Leisure Lake Association for 24 years.

Survivors include his wife; children, Rick (Bonnie) Stratton, Deborah Stratton and Don (Becky) Stratton, all of Dubuque, IA; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Jeanne Crosby of Vinton.

A Robert R. “Bob” Stratton Memorial Fund has been established.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one son.
