MAQUOKETA — William E. “Bill” Moler, 78, of Maquoketa, died Sunday at his home.
Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Maquoketa.
He was born Sept. 24, 1928, in Maquoketa to Lanvil and Clara Huffmann Moler. He married Sally Ann Martin on Feb. 14, 1956, in Maquoketa. She died in 1991.
He was a Maquoketa High School graduate.
Early in his career, he worked with Carson Funeral Home in Maquoketa as a funeral assistant and as a salesman with the Balban Rubber Co. In 1963, he opened a clothing store in Maquoketa, Bill Moler’s Clothing Store. He owned and operated the clothing business for more than 18 years before selling it in 1981. He also owned and operated Advertising Associates, Inc., which was the holder of a patent called the “Thank You” Bank. In 1994, he began working again as director of advertising and as a funeral assistant with Carson and Son Funeral Home.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Maquoketa and a 50-plus-year member of the Maquoketa Country Club where he served as president and on the board of directors. While in business, he was an active member of the Maquoketa Chamber of Commerce serving as president of the board of directors.
Survivors include his children, Deb (John) Kalb of Dubuque, Sherri (Brian) Marceau of Eldridge, Bob (Brenda) Moler of Apple Valley, Minn., and Amy (Eric) Schotland of Kansas City, Mo.; and eight grandchildren.
The family requests no flowers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one daughter.
