MAQUOKETA — Glenn Burton Caraway, 91, of Maquoketa, died Saturday at Jackson County Regional Health Center, Maquoketa.

Burial will be in Monmouth Cemetery.

He was born Feb. 5, 1915, near Mount Vernon to James C. and Berneice Kohl Caraway. He married Bessie “Betty” M. Jones on Jan. 29, 1937. She died in 1950.

He graduated from Monmouth High School in 1932.

He worked with his father until 1937. He and his wife farmed in the Monmouth area. He farmed until 1956. He worked for a short time with Clinton Engines, Maquoketa, then with Krambek Feed and Supply, before buying them out in 1957. The business became Caraway Feed and Supply. He retired in 1985.

He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Monmouth, and was active in several organizations and area clubs. He was the 2006 Jackson County Fair parade grand marshall.

Survivors include his children, Ruth Ann (Doug) Scott of Monmouth and Dale (Lovell) Caraway of Maquoketa; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Carrie Caraway of Anamosa; and several nieces and nephews.

A Glenn Burton Caraway Memorial Fund has been established.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, three brothers and two sisters.
