Dale N. Kyarsgaard, 85, of Preston, died at 8 p.m. Friday in the University Hospitals in Iowa City, where he had been a patient one one month.

Friends may call at the Krabbenhoft funeral home after 7 p.m. today. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the funeral home with Rev. G. Engelhardt of St. John's Lutheran church in Preston officiating. Burial will be in the Sterling cemetery near Sabula.

He was born in Copenhagen , Denmark on August 20, 1874, the son of Nels and Maris Kyarsgaard. He came to the U.S. and Mt. Carroll, Ill. at the age of seven . Later the family moved to Sabula. He was Baptized in the Danish Lutheran faith in Denmark.

On Dec 7, 1898 he was united in marriage with Mary Yappen and the they celebrated their golden anniversary in 1948.

Survivors include his wife: four sons, John C. of Clinton, Lewis (Louis) D. of Maquoketa, E. Albert of Preston, and C Alvin of Sabula: one daughter, Mrs. Mary (Marie) Brandt of DeWitt; 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter; two grandchildren; six brothers and three sisters.
