SABULA — Kenneth E. Gray, 87, of rural Sabula, died Sunday at Mercy North Hospital.

Burial will be in Sterling Cemetery, rural Sabula.

He was born June 26, 1918, near Sabula to John and Luella Taplin Gray. He married Vera Hunemiller on Oct. 22, 1942.

He graduated from Miles High School in 1935.

He was a farmer. He retired in 1980. He then worked with Wayne Feeds for five years and Feeder’s Supply, Miles, for five years.

He was a longtime member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Sabula, and served on many church committees. He was a member of the Izaak Walton League for more than 50 years serving as treasurer and secretary. He was a Jackson County committeeman with the American Soil Conservation Service for 35 years from 1937 to 1972. He was an assistant leader of Andover Boy Scout Troop 25 and was active in the Band Boosters Association with Miles schools.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Norma (James) Emerson of Tavares, Fla.; one son, Richard Gray of Austin, Texas; one brother, Clifton (Mary) Gray of Miles; and many nieces and nephews.

A general memorial fund has been established in his name.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
