The Great River Road runs through Jackson County from Sabula to Bellevue through St. Donatus. The Seventy-fifth birthday of the Great River Road is being celebrated in 2013. It was established by President Roosevelt in 1938. Richard Norpel of Bellevue served on the Great River Road Commission.
