A YOUNG LADY DROWNED

Mary Seiler, a German girl, aged about 15 years, was drowned in Brush Creek near Andrew last Friday evening. Miss Seiler was a pupil at the German school in Andrew. Friday evening she started to walk home, about 8 miles east of Andrew. To reach her home she was obliged to cross Brush Creek about 8 or 9 times. As she was crossing the last time, on a foot log, she slipped and fell into the water.

Her parents were not expecting her home that night and it was not until Sunday when they sent her a change of wearing apparel that she was missed. A search was immediately instituted and the body was found about 40 rods below the place of the drowning. It had caught in some bushes and the school books were tightly clasped in the arms of the poor girl.

Coroner Miller was notified and an inquest was held Sunday evening when the above facts were elicited. The funeral services were held Tuesday from the Lutheran Church, Andrew.
