Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Goodenow attended the International Livestock Show in Chicago last week. While there Mr. Goodenow had the satisfaction of seeing Goodenough sell at a good figure. Goodenough is a roan Shorthorn steer bred by J. E. Goodenow. and sold to Duer & Sons of Charlotte. The Duers fitted and showed this yearling at the International, where he won first place in the heavy weight Shorthorn class in the Junior Feeders' contest and in the open class in competition with the big breeders and agriculural college he won third place.
In the auction of the calf club steers Thursday when 350 steers were sold, Goodenough was the fourth highest priced steer to pass before the auction block. Of all the steers of all breeds entered in the open classes, only two steers outsold Goodenough and he brought four cents a pound more than the champion Shorthorn steer in the show. The buyer was the Palmer House of Chicago.
