VOTE ON ELECTRIC UTILITY

The people of the City of Maquoketa will vote upon the proposition of granting a 25 year franchise to the new Maquoketa Light and Heat Company, at the coming election. It will doubtless be a fairly warm contest as the owners of the present electric light plant, with many thousands of dollars invested, have not yet been able to bring it up to a dividend paying point, hence will not relish competition so early in the game.
